Long Prairie offers a rich variety of things to do

July 11, 2018

Looking for a fun day trip for the whole family or for a couple’s get-away? Set Long Prairie in sight.

With its rich variety of things to do, mixed with history, the city has much to offer.

Located less than a mile from Highway 71, is the Lake Charlotte Beach and Park. The site includes a beach with lifeguards, a fishing pier, a boat launch, a playground, men and women’s changing rooms, and restrooms.

For a small fee, the three picnic pavilions can also be reserved to hold special events by calling City Hall at (320) 732-2167.

There is also a disc golf course at the Lake Charlotte Lions Park.

Public art is displayed in Harmony Park on Fourth Avenue South in Long Prairie. The mosaic pieces not only tell of the history, migrations, lifestyles and culture of the city. They also represent the prayers of the community as well as its hope and fears.
