The Great Outdoors
Love spending time in nature? Can’t stand the thought of being trapped inside four walls?
Lake Charlotte Beach, Long Prairie River, Crow River, and over 40 lakes in Todd County are ready to lure you in!
From fishing hotspots to swimming and water sport options, Lake Charlotte Park offers a swimming beach coupled with numerous sporting options for playtime outside of the water, including volleyball, basketball, softball, and disc golf. Be sure to pack your favorite snacks to enjoy within the picnic shelters!
The nearby, gently flowing Long Prairie River offers additional water adventures with canoeing and fishing for Northern pike, walleye, and bass, as you meander through wooded areas, quaint towns, and lush meadows. Along the way, keep an eye out for a delightful host of wildlife, including painted turtle, horned lark, and even beaver!
Speaking of which, sixteen wildlife preserves, including the Mel Roehrl WMA and Keystone Woods, further support biodiversity in the region and create unique opportunities to engage with nature. Some of these sites, such as the Elgin Woods WMA, feature beautiful designated walking trails.
Living History


Away from the water, Todd County is sprinkled with museums throughout its 11 distinctive communities for families, solo travelers, and couples to enjoy.
In Bertha, the Bertha Museum chronicles information on a diverse assortment of prominent citizens while serving as an archive of local history.
In Hewitt, the Hewitt Public School Museum preserves the unique architecture of a former schoolhouse while serving as a historical archive for both Hewitt and Stowe Prairie Township.
Other local museums, such as the Christie Home Museum and the Todd County Museum, also provide a window into the past, offering unique special events that showcase local history.

Meanwhile, nostalgia lovers won’t be able to resist a visit to the historic Long Drive-in Theater, now celebrating its 69th year. On the big screen, you’ll find a showcase of double-features, hot new releases, and family-friendly flicks.
