A Legacy of Economic Growth
The Todd County Development Corporation (TCDC) has been a cornerstone of economic and community development in Todd County for over 34 years. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, TCDC’s mission is clear: to sustain and promote diverse economic development through education, training, and technical assistance, thereby improving the quality of life for residents. “We strive to adapt to the changing needs of our communities and businesses,” says Melissa Wyman, Executive Director of TCDC. “Our goal is to ensure that Todd County remains a vibrant place to live and work.”
Supporting Small Businesses
TCDC is a proud North Central Small Business Development Center (SBDC) partner, offering Todd County businesses free, confidential one-on-one consulting services. From startups to well-established companies, the SBDC provides tailored assistance in business planning, financial management, marketing strategies, and succession planning.
“Our SBDC Satellite Office ensures that entrepreneurs in Todd County have access to high-quality, relevant support to navigate challenges and opportunities,” Melissa shares. “Whether securing funding or refining a business strategy, we’re here to help every step of the way.”
Driving Economic Growth
TCDC offers services designed to attract, retain, and expand businesses in the area. These include:
- Revolving Loan Fund (RLF): Providing low-interest “gap” financing to support local businesses.
- Site Selection Assistance: Helping new and expanding businesses find the perfect location.
- Grant Writing Guidance: Assisting local leaders and organizations in securing funding for development projects.
- Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E): Identifying and addressing the needs of existing businesses to ensure their success.
“TCDC’s commitment to fostering growth is rooted in building strong relationships with local, state, and federal partners,” Melissa emphasizes.
Community Impact
In addition to business support, TCDC actively partners on community improvement projects, addressing key areas such as housing, broadband access, and childcare. During the COVID-19 pandemic, TCDC facilitated $1.8 million in emergency grants for businesses and non-profits, showcasing its dedication to resilience and recovery.
“Our work goes beyond economic metrics,” Melissa explains. “We focus on enhancing the quality of life for residents by addressing the broader needs of our communities.”
Get Involved
A network of sponsors and community partners powers TCDC’s efforts. Sponsorship levels range from Individual to Platinum Sponsor, each offering opportunities to contribute to Todd County’s growth.
“Being a sponsor is about more than funding,” Melissa notes. “It’s about joining a movement to create lasting, positive change in Todd County. Together, we can make a real difference.”
A Vision for the Future
With Melissa Wyman at the helm, TCDC is poised to tackle future challenges with creativity and resilience. “Economic development is not static,” she says. “It requires us to be adaptable and innovative, continuously finding ways to uplift our communities.”
