CentraCare Health is taking the bold step of constructing a new Medical Campus and Assisted Living campus to better serve the nearly 24,000 residents of Todd County.

    August 24, 2016

This project will replace the existing 60 year old facility and better serve this rural community by

    • Improving access to care and offering a wider array of services for patients.
    • Providing ample space for improved technology and visiting specialists.
    • Helping retain and recruit qualified physicians and staff.
    • Positioning CentraCare Health - Long Prairie as a model health care campus offering an innovative continuum of care in a rural setting.

In April 2014, the Building a Healthy Community capital campaign in support of a new medical campus was launched.  Thanks to the generous contributions from we have surpassed the $2.5 million capital campaign stretch goal securing the future of health care in our area.  Tom and the Rosen Family Foundation contributed a generous $500,000 lead gift to the Building a Healthy Community capital campaign in support of this important project.  In addition to the commitment from the Rosen Family Foundation, principle gifts have also been received from Farmers Union Industries, LLC; Dan’s Prize, Inc.; Lee and Jan Hanson & Family; Paul Van Gorp, MD and Bobbi Knutson; and Rodger and Marlys Bense.  In addition to contributions from community members, local businesses and civic organizations, CentraCare Health employees pledged over $400,000 to this important project.

To date, 513 donors have pledged $2,542,617.50 to the Building a Healthy Community capital campaign.

Construction of the new medical campus at CentraCare Health – Long Prairie started in May 2016, with completion of the estimated $30 million, 65,000 sq. ft. inpatient and outpatient facility expected late 2017.

In addition to the medical campus project, CentraCare Health is investing over $6.5 million in the new construction of a 40-unit Assisted Living Facility.  Construction started in August 2016 with completion expected early 2017.  In addition, CentraCare Health is investing in in the city/public street that will be directly in front of the new campus and provide easy, safe access to both facilities.

This Assisted Living building project will provide a much-needed senior housing option for our aging community members to continue to live in the community.
